Curious names.

April 16, 2014

I often run across odd names in the course of my research, and I love to share them – it’s always good for a laugh. Yesterday, I came across a bloke named ‘William By-West-half-the-Water’ in 14th century King’s Lynn, Norfolk. Huh. I’m thinking I should adopt this surname when I return to teaching next fall, just to see how my students deal with it.
